GC SCHOOL MAKE UP DAYS
On February 26, 2014, the Greenfield Central School Board approved the following guidelines for weather make up days during the 2013-14 school year only:
1. GC will have school on March 17, 18, 19 and 20 as scheduled during the first week of Spring Break for earlier school cancellations this year.
2. If necessary, GC will use Friday, March 21, 2014, as a make up day.
4. Any additional GC make up days will add one hour (sixty minutes) to the end of the regular school day, beginning on March 31, 2014, or on the first Monday following any cancelled school day, at the rate of six hours for each cancelled school day.
6. In the event of a two-hour delay, that day will not be used toward the make up schedule because it would not meet the 60 minute replacement.
The GC band earned 18 Gold Ratings (the highest rating) at ISSMA Solo and Ensemble this weekend. This is quite an accomplishment! Congratulations!
Celebrate International Week at G-CHS by learning more about exploring our world through youth exchange programs. A representative from CIEE will be here Tuesday to answer your questions about hosting an exchange student.
Students and parents: If you have ever thought about hosting an exchange student becoming one yourself, there will be a representative at G-CHS next Tuesday during lunch and Cougar Connection who would be glad to answer your questions and help you apply. Please be sure to stop by to learn more about this exciting opportunity!
Congratulations to Tyler Beeson, who finished 6th at the state wrestling finals! Great season, Tyler! You made G-C proud!
onday, February 17, 2014, Greenfield-Central Schools will activate its early release schedule for High School and Junior High School students due to the pending ice storm this afternoon.
Greenfield-Central High School and Junior High students will release at 1:25 p.m.
Elementary students in grades K-6 will be released at their normal time, when parents and older siblings are available for home supervision.
All after school activities are cancelled for this evening.
Why Does GC Release JH/HS First?
To offer affordable and efficient bus service, GC offers students 2 separate bus schedules: K-6 and 7-12.
For many of our families, both parents work outside the home. On early release days due to weather, we bus middle and high school students first so that older siblings and babysitters are available for younger students who may need supervision if parents are not at home due the weather.
The State is very clear about early dismissal. Schools may only dismiss two hours early, not over the lunch hour. Regular dismissal time is at 3:25 for GC student grades 7-12: the earliest GC can dismiss grades 7-12 is at 1:25. The dismissal of K-6 students will follow the 7-12 students, at approximately their normal time, or as soon as secondary bus drivers are able to conclude their routes.
Safety remains our primary focus during severe weather alerts. We appreciate the patience and understanding of families as we make every effort to get students home safely under challenging weather conditions.
Tyler Beeson takes 2nd at semi-state and will wrestle at the State Finals next weekend!
